Any individual or organisation that uses a commercial vehicle to transport goods or passengers in exchange for payment needs an Operator's Licence.

Yes, certain types of vehicles are exempt from requiring an Operator's Licence, such as those used for personal use or those under a certain weight.

The type of operator's licence required depends on the type of transportation being conducted. Standard national is for transportation within the UK, standard international is for transportation between the UK and other countries, and restricted is for smaller operations.

If you're applying for a standard national or international operator's licence, you must have a transport manager. Their role is to ensure that your operations comply with regulations, and they act as the main point of contact with the authorities.
